NEW Special Needs soccer program is now open for registration
Glen- Ed Sports is happy to announce our new special needs soccer program called TOPS
This program is open to any boy or girl with a disability, ages 5-21. It is designed to bring the excitement and fun of playing soccer to players who traditionally have not had a place in the youth soccer system. Games are played in Edwardsville IL at Glen-Ed West at Plummer Family Park or Glen-Ed East at SIUE. Both locations are just off I-270 and I-55 in Madison Country.
TOPS is free of charge to all these very special children. The program is privately funded by Glen-Ed soccer through the generous donations of individuals and grants.
The Glen-Ed TOPS program is part of the USYS TOPSoccer family. TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a recreational sports program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities that is offered throughout the country through local USYS-affiliated soccer clubs. TOPSoccer provides our members with an opportunity to play soccer in a uniquely structured environment that is safe, fun, supportive, and inclusive.
Program information:
- AGES: boys & girls ages 5 - 21.
- WHEN:3 Saturdays - March 28, April 25 and May 30
- TIME: 12:30 - 1:30 pm
- WHERE: Plummer Family Park - field to be determined
- COSTS: FREE due to club and private donations
Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers to help with
- Admin & player check (18 years of age or older) and
- Field help as a player Buddy (14 years or older).
Volunteers who are 18years an older will require a fully IYSA registration and background check (once you register we will send you the IYSA information and background info and links)
This is truly a memorable experience for everyone involved. Without our dedicated volunteers, the program would not exist. You can come out on your own, with friends, or with a group.
We are happy to sign for service hours for students if needed. Be sure to bring your volunteer sheet with you when you volunteer.
