Hannah Landers (Metro East Lutheran) was named to the first team of the 2016 Chicago Fire Girls All-State All-Academic soccer team. The first team was comprised of high school seniors from throughout the state of Illinois. Hannah was one of 3 players from the Metro East to make the 23-player first team. Qualification was determined by GPA and ACT score but to make the first team, the selection committee chose well-rounded candidates who also played at least 2 varsity sports, were involved in other high school activities and volunteered in their community.
Landers was a 4-year starter at center back for MELHS and was named the team’s Defensive Player of the year, 3 straight years. She was co-captain and scored 4 goals and had 1 assist this past season. She was awarded the IHSA Scholastic Achievement the past 2 years and was named to the Prairie State Conference All-Academic team, too. Landers also played varsity basketball all 4 years and played 2 years on the MELHS varsity volleyball team. Landers played club soccer for local soccer club, Glen-Ed Soccer Association.
Hannah achieved high honors every semester at MELHS, was a member of the National Honor Society, co-President of the FCA and served her community as an elections judge. She will be attending the University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa this fall on a Presidential Honors merit scholarship where she will be studying Architectural Engineering.
