The year has flown by so quickly. It is that time of year when the club and parents plan for next year.
The club has again achieved so much as we continue towards our goal of “quality soccer at an affordable price.”
A few of the accomplishments from 2016-17 season have been:
Director of Coach and Player Development John Van Buskirk joining the club.
Expanding and upgrading SIUE Glen-Ed facilities by slit seeding fields and purchase of storage container and lights.
The 8th Annual Glen-Ed Spring Kick-Off hosted a 186 teams
Registered 30 teams and over 400 players for league play.
The club sponsored the 1st bus trip to Dallas with 3 HS boys teams.

The achievements have allowed the club to improve the opportunities for all players in the club and attract new players.
Due to the addition of Coach Van Buskirk and exceptional facilities, the club can expand opportunities to incorporate additional initiatives for player development. Since Coach Van Buskirk is full time and coupled with his experience, it allows the club to maintain a strong commitment to our current programs and attract new players of all skill levels.
11v11 PREMIER TEAM PROGRAM
For the 2017-18, the club is excited to announce the creation of a Premier Team program for age groups 2005 and above (11v11) with the goal of playing in the Premier Division of SLYSA, regional leagues and state competitions. For younger age groups 2006 and below (9v9 and 7v7), players may be grouped according to skill level to the extent possible, given the rapidly changing physical abilities of younger players.
The Club’s leadership is committed to a philosophy that players train and play with similarly skilled players to develop the 4 PILLARS OF SOCCER . The program will be led by Director of Player Development John Van Buskirk.
The Premier Team program, for both boys and girls, will bring together the most talented players at the 11v11 age groups. If the technical staff determines a particular age group lacks the necessary talent, the age group will not have a Premier Team formed.
Premier Teams will be formed by birth year and coached by the technical staff. High standards will be applied to Premier Team coaches. They will be committed to the club philosophy of player development and demonstrate an ability to mentor players to play at the highest levels.
AS MANDATED BY USSF, ALL TEAMS 2004 & BELOW FORMED BY BIRTH YEAR
In 2016 the USSF mandated teams be formed by birth year starting 2017-18 to create a standard in player development.
During the past year, in an effort to support our player and parent community, the club formed teams based upon birth year and grade year. Reviewing the game stats for 2010 through 2004 teams, the data clearly shows mixed age teams underperform dramatically in goals scored, goals against, wins and losses . Additionally, the data supports teams need to conform to age standards of the opponent to drive player development and team success.
Based upon the statistical evidence and coach recommendations, the club will mandate all teams 2004 to 2009 be formed based upon birth year. It will maximize player development ensuring players reach their potential as they train and compete against similarly skilled players. The club understands team formation by birth year is not accepted by all and not popular with some parents. However, the club is focused on delivering the highest player development standards .
